Adaptive Reuse
C&C looks at every project as a unique problem with a unique set of challenges to overcome. We use experience, ingenuity, and hard work to create solutions to complex development problems through the adaptive reuse of existing structures into an affordable housing use. Adaptive reuse projects typically involve as much, if not more, due diligence, planning, time and effort than a typical
“ground up” development.
Adaptive reuse projects allow C&C Development to pursue projects that preserve the original character and heritage of an existing community while at the same time eliminate the need for demolition of existing structures. Adaptive reuse projects breathe “new life’ into once vibrant structures and communities that have outlived their useful life.
C&C’s redevelopment of an existing motel into an affordable senior apartment community is a excellent example of how the adaptive resuse of an existing structure can transform an underperforming property into needed affordable housing for a community. Santiago Villas consists of 89 units for seniors over 55. This site was an underutilized hotel which was converted into studio, one, and two bedroom apartments. Amenities include large open space areas, exercise room, laundry facilities, and a community room with free internet access on computers. The project is within walking distance of several restaurants and located near supermarkets, drug stores, bus lines and the Santa Ana Medical Arts Building.
